Citi Bike Angels To Descend On Crown Heights, Officials Say
Citi Bike is launching a new initiative to redistribute bikes that relies on the help of Bike Angels.

CROWN HEIGHTS — Angels will descend on Crown Heights Wednesday, and they’ll be riding bicycles.
A new operation to get Citi Bikes from Brooklyn's overpacked docking stations to emptier ones in central Brooklyn will rely on Bike Angels, riders who help redistribute bikes in exchange for points, the bike share program announced Wednesday.
More than 29,000 Bike Angels will help bring bikes to empty stations in Crown Heights and Prospect Heights as part of “Operation Edge Explorers," which launched on Feb. 28, Citi Bike officials said.

Bike Angels will be rewarded for these cycling acts of grace with three- to five-times the normal amount of points — redeemable for Citi Bike memberships, gift cards, keys and more — than they usually receive in the program, according to a spokesperson.
Citi Bike’s angels have until March 16 to bring the much-needed bikes into allocated neighborhoods, which also include regions in the Lower East Side in Manhattan, officials said.

This is not the first time Citi Bike has summoned its angels to do good — in 2017, the bike share program launched “Operation Northbound Bikes” to get more Citi Bikes into the Upper West and Upper East sides.
