Responsibilities include the following:
- Identify needs and strategies for neighborhood improvements
- Assess vacant buildings in the neighborhood for possible seal-up or demolition
- Monitor inspection services of the Dept. of Buildings and the Dept. of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD)
- Establish budget priorities and make recommendations to the Board on housing issues
- Monitor housing construction and rehabilitation projects
- Make recommendations on the disposition of City-owned property in the District
- Plan and conduct public hearings on land use terms
- Assess local needs and take notice of district changes, i.e., economic growth and housing
- Review ULURP (Uniform Land Use Review Procedure) applications and make recommendations to the full Board
