Music Is My First Language Presents our 2nd FREE NYC music workshop for kids 9-17 at ShapeShifter Lab in Park Slope! Our first amazing workshop in August with Swiss Chris was phenomenal!
Workshop Title: “It's a language”
This workshop will focus on the concept of “Music as a Conversation”. Students will explore music as a language by listening, retaining and expressing. Students will experience the piano, clapping along, singing along, call and response, engage in discussion about the origins of the blues and how it helps people work through adversity. Students will explore improvisation, develop an understanding of the blues, gain historical background have the opportunity to create their own blues.
The workshop will conclude with an interactive demo/show presented by Mr. Harris and his band for students and parents.
