Hundreds Of Ancient Musical Horns Stolen From BK Garage: NYPD

A Crown Heights man discovered Thursday that someone had stolen 1,250 Yemenite Polished Shofars from his garage, police said.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A thief walked off with more than a thousand ancient musical horns he stole from a Crown Heights garage, police said.

A 70-year-old man discovered Thursday that his 1,250 Yemenite Polished Shofars had been stolen from his garage on Montgomery Street and Albany Avenue, police said.

The thief appears to have broken in through the front garage door and carted away about 32 boxes packed with the shofars, police said.

Police released a photo of a shofar — an instrument made from a ram's horn that is typically played in synagogue services on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur — on Friday.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact police.
