Inside the Archives: Fulton Ferry Slip

Almost
200 years ago, on May 10, 1814, Robert Fulton built the first steam ferry to
run from the old ferry slip in Brooklyn to New York City. Join Archivist Carey Stumm on
a virtual journey through Downtown Brooklyn's transportation history and the
development of horse car, omnibus, trolley, elevated lines, the Brooklyn Bridge,
and eventually the subway lines into Brooklyn
— all stemming from this local ferry slip. This program highlights photographs
and archival materials from the Museum's extensive permanent collection.
