JOE REDDING + CORNELL BROS. + THE JACKS OF KINGS COUNTY + Osloh @ THE WAY STATION

The Way Station, 683 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. waystationbk.com. All events are a strongly suggested $5 donation.

8pm- Joe Redding

Genre: Country/Folk
For fans of: Johnny Cash, Bill Callahan, Bright Eyes, Hank Williams

Influenced by the sounds of Johnny Cash and Hank Williams, Joe Redding writes songs that are lyrically grounded in the darker aspects of the human experience. His fiery lyrics are brought to life by his raw, gritty baritone voice – which at times ascends into higher registers – revealing his passion for the heavy hitting, outlaw style of folk/country music that he came to love as a young man living in the Catskill Mountains.

“Redding navigates a dark, winding road through crumbling Americana soundscapes... Politically charged and emotionally bold.” -Dan Bolles, Seven Days VT

9pm- Cornell Bros.
Genre: Original Acoustic American Roots Music
For fans of: Bluegrass, The Band, The Stanley Brothers, CSNY, Walt Whitman

Original songs of redemption and hope, featuring farmers, sailors, dancers, fathers, lovers, Abraham Lincoln and The Knights Templar. Denizens of Brooklyn’s South Slope, the Cornell Bros. (not brothers in fact, but brothers in music) have been playing NYC since 2010, developing their soulful take on founder and songwriter Greg Cornell’s tunes, with tight vocal harmonies in front. Many instruments will show up at their gigs: fiddle, guitar, banjo, mandolin, upright bass, harmonica, sometimes lap steel and piano, as well as a pared down drum kit that helps them rock and roll. They bring energy and joy to their musical sojourn.

11pm- Osloh
Genre: Electronic/Ambient/Jazz/Audio-Visual
For fans of: Tycho, Bonobo, Bibio

Osloh is an ambient electronic project from Adelaide, Australia. 2014 sees band leader, Ed Cavanough, bringing the solo incarnation of Osloh’s intimate audio-visual show out of Australia for the first time. Combining downtempo beats, live-looping and sampled textures, Osloh’s show at The Way Station will be their only performance in NYC for 2014, before further dates along the East Coast, Iceland, and Europe.

“With a sound that calls to mind the soulful stirrings of Chet Faker, the velvety beats of Bonobo, the heavily affected vocal samplings of Safia … Osloh’s approach is about as chilled as the city they take their name from” – Rip It Up.

They held the audience completely captivated…watching in awe. If it wasn’t the music people were getting lost in, it was definitely the video back drop. Imagine vintage home videos being played through a kaleidoscope, somehow leaving you feeling emerged in a nostalgic high” - Hhhappy
