Locanda Verde Chef Picks Best in Prospect Heights
Cataldo's, Chuko, Taro Sushi and Ample Hills Creamery are all given some love by pastry chef Karen DeMasco.
Serious Eats gave Locanda Verde’s pastry chef Karen DeMasco full reign to pick her favorite spots in her home nabe of Prospect Heights and…well, half of the picks are in Park Slope (and one in Boerum Hill!)
The blog says that DeMasco – who lives next door to the under-construction Barclays Stadium – loves being able to get pizza, ice cream and burgers “without ever having to leave the neighborhood,” but we’ll momentarily forgive her fuzziness on the neighborhood’s border, because she does have some great picks.
Check out the full list on Serious Eats, but in the meantime, here’s her faves in Prospect Heights:

For delivery, she recommends Taro Sushi on Flatbush Avenue, noting their quick delivery and “slightly vinegary rice and super fresh fish.”

And finally, DeMasco gives a shoutout to “a great neighborhood ice cream parlor” with flavors like yellow cake, stout with pretzels and a vanilla malted (made with chopped malted milk balls).
