New Grill Stations Debut At Prospect Park In Time For Summer
The new grills on the east side of the park were one of the projects funded in District 40's Participatory Budgeting vote.

PROSPECT LEFFERT GARDENS, BROOKLYN — A new set of barbecue grills were unveiled in Brooklyn's backyard on Friday just in time for Memorial Day Weekend and summer grill-sessions.
The grills, set up on the east side of Prospect Park, are the first of a new model of grills compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act. Two of the grills can be found in the lawn area across from the Lincoln Road entrance to the park and another two were put at the lawn by the Parkside and Ocean avenues entrance.
All four were funded through Participatory Budgeting for Councilman Mathieu Eugene's District 40.

"Barbecuing is a long-held summer tradition in Prospect Park," Sue Donoghue, president of the Prospect Park Alliance said Friday. "From the high number of votes in the participatory budgeting process, we know these grills are a welcome, new addition to the park for the east side communities,"
"These new communal grills will make it even more inviting to enjoy summer in Prospect Park," Donague said.

The $80,000 project is similar to ADA-compliant, triple-barbecue grills that were installed at Brooklyn Bridge Park, which have become popular additions to the park.
The lawn areas where the grills in Prospect Park were put were restored as part of the project and new hot coal bins and trash receptacles were put in place.
"I want to commend Prospect Park Alliance for renovating this section of Prospect Park so that our constituents can enjoy this BBQ area during the summer months," Eugene said. "I am pleased to fund this project, because I want residents to feel at home here, and to know that they are a major part of my ongoing commitment to the community."
The two new areas are intended for small barbecue gatherings, and for communal grills among park patrons. For larger gatherings of 20 people or more, parkgoers should visit the Prospect Park website to learn about larger barbecue areas.
