Prospect Heights Cafe Is A Finalist For Best Bakery Of The Year

PROSPECT HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A new cafe in Prospect Heights is in the running to become New York City's best bakery of 2019, according to Eater.

Ciao, Gloria, which opened on Vanderbilt Avenue over the summer, is one of five finalists in Eater's best bakery awards for 2019, the outlet announced this week. The foodies name a best Restaurant of the Year, Best Design of the Year and a Best Bakery of the Year.

The Italian bakery will face off against Farine Baking Company in Jackson Heights, Ole & Steen and Fabrique Bakery in Manhattan and Win Son Bakery in Brooklyn for Eater's top spot.

The food outlet praised Ciao, Gloria's daily baked treats in its description of the finalist, calling the cafe "An Italian-American Prospect Heights restaurant and bakery where there’s a morning bake with cinnamon rolls and morning buns and an afternoon bake with brownies and cookies."

The Prospect Heights spot wasn't the only in the borough to make the list.

Park Slope's Korean hotspot Haeyneo will face off against Greenwich Village restaurant Llama San, another Korean outpost Kawi in Hudson Yards, Italian newcomer Rezdôra and French Manhattan spot Wayan for the best restaurant category.

Williamsburg's Win Son is joined by another neighborhood restaurant Gertie, which took a spot in the finalists for the best design award.

"All of these finalists have either opened or come into their own in a new way since we declared the winners last year, and all of them were key contributors to making 2019 a great year of eating in New York," Eater wrote. "Winners will be crowned, with much fanfare, on December 10, 2019."
