Prospect Heights Woman Fights Off Would-Be Rapist, Cops Say

Police are looking for the man who tackled and sexually abused a woman in her Prospect Heights building Sunday, police said.

PROSPECT HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A Prospect Heights woman fought off the man who asked her for a light then followed her into her apartment and sexually abused her, police said.

The 27-year-old woman stood at her front door near Underhill Avenue and St. John's Place at about 11:45 p.m. Sunday when a stranger asked to use her lighter, police said.

She gave him a light and tried to go inside, but he followed her into the hallway, shoved her to the ground and abused her in the hallway, said police.

The woman managed to fight off her attacker, who ran away, and she was treated by emergency responders, police said.

Police are now looking for a man who stands about 5-foot 7-inches tall, weighs about 200 pounds and was last seen wearing a hoodie, Adidas track pants and black sneakers.
