BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — A NYPD officer moves through a crowd of George Floyd protesters, repeating "Stand back."

One protester — a black man with eyewear and a face covering — stands motionless, his hands up in the air. The cop, pepper spray in hand, reaches for the protester's face.

The protester recoils in pain. Minutes later, the cop asks another officer if he saw the protester "with the goggles."

Crowd video showing the officer tear off the protester's mask to pepper spray him already went viral and prompted the officer's suspension without pay on June 5.

NYPD officials on Tuesday released 30 minutes bodycam footage from two officers showing the incident, along with other scenes showing the officer apparently pepper spraying protesters.

The controversial encounter can be seen at about 7:30 in the video from the officer's own body camera, and at about 21:30 from another officer's.

The suspended officer's boastful telling to another cop is at about 12:45.

About a minute after the officer ripped the protester's mask off, it appears he pepper sprayed other protesters, hitting one woman in the face. She defiantly raises a middle finger to him and other NYPD officers.

"Who are you protecting right now?" a protester asks.

"You," the officer responds.

Protesters weren't the only ones who received the sting of pepper spray — the officer himself appears to accidentally blast himself at about 13:50.

He yells repeatedly in pain and flails around a group of fellow officers.

"I can't see," he cries.

Another officer helped wash the cop's eyes with water.

NYPD and city officials have suspended several cops for violent actions during the protests over the killing of George Floyd and police brutality. One — Officer Vincent D'Andraia —faces criminal charges after video showed him violently shoving a protester to the ground.
