Woman Fights Off Would-Be Rapist In Brooklyn Laundry Room: Cops

Police released a sketch of the suspect, whom they describe as a 6-foot 4-inch tall muscular man, on Saturday.

PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS, BROOKLYN -- A would-be rapist dropped his pants, tackled a woman in a Brooklyn laundromat and sexually assaulted her, police said.

The man cornered a 30-year-old woman in an apartment building laundry room near Lincoln Road and Flatbush Avenue at about 7:30 a.m. Friday morning, police said.

The muscular, 6-foot 4-inch-tall man demanded sex, and when he was refused, told the woman he had a knife, police said.

Police did not find a knife in the laundry room and the suspect never showed one to his victim, according to police.

The man sexually assaulted the woman, but she fought him off when he tried to rape her, said police.

He then fled the apartment building and a neighbor called 911 when he saw the woman running away from the laundry room, according to police.

Police released a sketch of the suspect, whom they describe as a man in his 20s wear black sweats and cap, on Saturday.

Anyone with information about this assault is asked to contact police.
