New York Junior Tennis and Learning expands ACES afterschool program to four new sites in the Rockaways (qns.com) — Families in the Rockaways and across Queens now have more free afterschool options as New York Junior Tennis and Learning expands its ACES program to four additional Rockaway schools, bringing the borough total to 16 sites. Kids receive tennis lessons, tutoring, enrichment, and healthy snacks, with several other Queens schools from Jamaica to Astoria already participating and more details available online.

3. Southeast Queens man sentenced for sex trafficking a young woman out of the Pomonok Houses in Fresh Meadows: DA (qns.com) — A Southeast Queens man has been sentenced to three to nine years in prison for sex trafficking a young woman he exploited while she worked at a Queens motel and lived at Pomonok Houses in Fresh Meadows. Prosecutors say he abused her, took all her earnings, and broke promises of housing and childcare. Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz urges anyone needing help to contact her office's Human Trafficking Bureau.

4. Affordable Housing Fast Track: NYC Names 12 Districts (uticaphoenix.net) — Starting Jan. 1, 2027, several Queens community districts, including Corona, Elmhurst, Ridgewood, Maspeth, Middle Village, South Ozone Park, Howard Beach, Bayside, Douglaston, Queens Village, Bellerose and Rosedale, will qualify for a faster 90-day review of certain housing proposals. The city says this Affordable Housing Fast Track keeps public input and environmental rules while speeding approvals in areas that have built little affordable housing. Residents are urged to follow community board notices and scrutinize each project's actual affordability levels.

Queens museum explores Louis Armstrong's Ghana connection in year-long exhibition (travelprnews.com) — Queens jazz fans can now explore Louis Armstrong's deep ties to Ghana at a year-long "Armstrong in Ghana" exhibition at the Louis Armstrong Center in Corona.
