According to Riverhead Town Police, the gunshots were fired during a dispute at a Calverton home on October 4 at 7:50 p.m., causing damage to a kitchen and vehicles, police said.

When police arrived, they secured the area and determined that no one had been injured, authorities said.

A dispute broke out between the resident of the home and three people in a black, four-door sedan, police said. Gunshots were fired from inside the vehicle, striking the kitchen inside the home and four vehicles parked at the home, causing damage, police said.

Although the resident and the people inside the vehicle did not know one another, the incident was not believed to be random, police said.

The investigation is ongoing; anyone with information is asked to call Riverhead Police at 631-727-4500. All calls will be kept confidential.
