911 Call System Down Across Suffolk County Tuesday Morning
Police are asking residents with emergencies to contact their departments directly.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — The 911 emergency call system is down across Suffolk County Tuesday morning, and local police departments are urging residents to reach them in alternate ways.
According to Suffolk County Police, 911 began experiencing system issues at 3:25 a.m. The Suffolk County Police Department 911 system remains functional utilizing backup protocols.
The Riverhead Town Police Department said they experiencing issues with the phone system, including 911 and the direct police department lines. To contact Riverhead Town Police Department, call 631-727-4500 extension 352 or extension 602.

Those calling should be advised there may be a delay when calling the number, but are told to stay on the line and they will be connected with Riverhead Town Police Department.
"This phone system issue appears to be countywide," police said.

With 911 lines down countywide, the Southampton Town Police Department has asked the public to call (631) 702-2273 or (631) 702-2223 until the system is restored.
Southold Town Shelter Island and Fisher's island residents can call 631-765-2562.
The Nassau County 911 system is not impacted, officials said.
Many residents reported, on social media, that they got a call early Tuesday alerting them to the issue.
