Suffolk has farmers markets throughout the County. Enjoy fresh local produce and support our area's farmers and growers.

The growing number of farmers markets in Suffolk County—including the new markets in Flanders and Greenport on Saturday mornings—allows us greater access to healthier, fresh foods. Plus, we support the local farmers and growers.
The Family Health and Wellness Program at Cornell Cooperative Extension is managing the state-funded Creating Healthy Places to Live, Work and Play in Suffolk County (CHPSC) as a means of creating changes in the community to increase access to healthy foods and opportunities for physical activity. And part of this mission is getting the word out about all the terrific farmers markets in Suffolk!
It is estimated that NYS will spend approximately $9.9 billion on adult obesity-related problems in 2001. The percentage of NYS adults who are overweight or obese increased from 42% in 1997 to 60% in 2008.

Enjoy the local bounty of the summer season by shopping for farm fresh produce. Shop with your children at the markets and introduce them to the colorful fruits and vegetables. It is recommended that there is a variety of colors on your plate—leafy greens, red tomatoes, yellow corn, purple eggplant and so on!
