Cops Seek Man Who Used Counterfeit Money at Riverhead Store

The man spent the fake money last month, police say.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Riverhead Police Department detectives are looking to identify and find the man they say used counterfeit money at a store in Riverhead last month.

A man entered Walgreens, located at 1196 Old Country Road, and purchased a $500 gift card using five counterfeit $100 bills on Jan. 16, at approximately 6:20 p.m., police said.

The suspect is described as five-foot-eleven with a beard, and was wearing a red jacket and jeans, police said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
