Greenport 2nd 'Most Expensive Summer Destination' In NY: Report

According to a new report, the "most expensive least expensive" hotel room in Greenport in August is $324 per night.

NORTH FORK, NY — While it's undoubtedly a piece of heaven on earth, and the place to be in the idyllic summer, Southampton has also earned the new distinction of "most expensive summer destination in New York State," according to a new report. And two North Fork locations come in second and third.

According to a post by Travel Agent Central, a study in newyorkhotels.org sought out the "cheapest available room for top destinations" for August, 2018.

Southampton topped the list, at the "most expensive least expensive room" costing a pricey $334 per night. Following in second and third places, according to the report, were two other East End destinations — Greenport, at $324 per night, and Shelter Island, at $294. Montauk came in at #5, at $274 per night.

But not all reports agree that some destinations are budget busters. Earlier this year, Forbes named Greenport as one of its Top 23 spots for "cheap summer travel."
