Island Harvest Brings 10 Pallets Of Food For Hungry To Riverhead
Anyone, not just Riverhead residents, is welcome to the food, which will be distributed Friday by Island Harvest.

RIVERHEAD, NY — With many families across the East End left struggling in an economy rocked by the new coronavirus, putting food on the table has become a critical issue.
On Friday, Riverhead Town will partner with Island Harvest for a drive-up/walk-up food distribution at Stotzky Park, located at 55 Columbus Ave. in Riverhead from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The food is available to anyone in need, not just Riverhead Town residents.

Island Harvest is a Long Island-based food bank that provides a vital supply of food to counter the sharply rising problem of hunger, town officials said.
Those attending the food distribution event are asked to enter the park through Columbus Ave. off Pulaski St. Individuals on foot are asked to practice social distancing guidelines of at least six feet to ensure everyone’s safety. A bag of food will be provided to each car or individual.

Island Harvest is donating 10 pallets of perishable and nonperishable food on a first-come, first-served basis and distribution will continue until the supplies are exhausted.
“During these difficult times as families are struggling physically and economically, it is important that we as leaders work closely with our non-profit community to ensure Riverhead is well served," said Riverhead Town Councilwoman Catherine Kent. "I encourage those in need to come and make use of this resource and thank you to Island Harvest for all you do to serve our community.”
“We’re blessed to have this great organization helping so many communities on Long Island. Riverhead is privileged to have your support," Riverhead Town Councilman Frank Beyrodt, a member of the Island Harvest board of directors ,said.
Riverhead Town Supervisor Yvette Aguiar thanked the entire town board and Island Harvest for “their important collaboration during these challenging times. The generous offer under this unprecedented public health crisis is most certainly welcomed."
