Man Arrested, Charged After Gunshots At Calverton Home: Police
Additional arrests are expected, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — Police have arrested and charged a man in connection with an incident earlier in October during which gunshots were fired from a vehicle outside a Calverton home.
According to Riverhead Town Police, on October 4, a call came in regarding gunshots on the property of the residence on Sound Avenue.
The Riverhead Police Department's detective division, along with the New York State Police forensic investigation unit, conducted an investigation that resulted in the arrest of Demario Weston Jr., 19, of Riverhead, on October 22, police said.

Weston Jr. was charged with first-degree attempted assault and first-degree reckless endangerment, police saidd. He was processed on the charges and held for arraignment, police said.
The gunshots were fired during a dispute at the Calverton home, causing damage to a kitchen and vehicles, police said.

A dispute broke out between the resident of the home and three people in a black, four-door sedan, police said. Gunshots were fired from inside the vehicle, striking the kitchen inside the home and four vehicles parked at the home, causing damage, police said.
Although the resident and the people inside the vehicle did not know one another, the incident was not believed to be random, police said. The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected, police said.
