Man Charged With Firing Gun, Injuring 2 Outside Riverhead Business: PD

He was arrested Friday, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A Middle Island man was arrested on Friday and charged with shooting a gun outside a Riverhead business in May, injuring two men, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, Paul Houpe, 29, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree attempted assault; two counts of second-degree assault; two counts of second-degree criminal use of a firearm; and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The arrest relates to an incident that took place on May 28 at 1:20 a.m. at the Mambo Grill and Lounge on East Main Street, police said.

The two injured men were taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment, police said.

Riverhead Police and the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office investigated the incident, which led to Houpe's arrest, police said. He was processed and held for arraignment, police said.
