Man Shot After Opening Fire On Police Charged: Cops
A domestic dispute between a father and son led to one man opening fire on police, authorities said.

JAMESPORT, NY — A man who was shot after he opened fire on police during a domestic dispute has been charged, police said.
William G. Klatt, 32, who shot at police during a domestic incident in Jamesport on Wednesday, May 27, has been charged with second degree assault and first degree reckless endangerment, Suffolk County Police said.
Klatt was arraigned at Riverhead Town Justice Court on May 29, police said.

Riverhead Town Police were called to the home, located on Manor Lane, at 7:47 p.m., for a domestic incident between a father and son, police said.
While officers were speaking with the father, William J. Klatt, 60, in the driveway of the home, his son, William G. Klatt, removed the screen from a window and fired multiple shots from a shotgun at the group, police said. As the officers and father took cover, Klatt exited the home with the shotgun and exchanged gunshots with police, authorities said.

William G. Klatt was struck once, police said. He was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said..
Three police officers and the senior Klatt, 60, were also transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
Both men live at the home, police said.
According to Riverhead Police Chief David Hegermiller, Klatt had reportedly barricaded himself in the residence.
