The new assessment will map needed dredging, bulkhead repairs, and stormwater fixes while officials chase county and federal grants that could bring millions for full restoration and downtown beautification.
   

5. Community College OK's purchase of culinary center in Riverhead (riverheadlocal.com) — Suffolk County Community College is moving to buy the 20 East Main Street building that houses its Culinary Arts and Hospitality Center, securing a long-term presence in downtown Riverhead and potentially ending nearly $1 million in annual lease costs. The purchase still needs Suffolk County Legislature and SUNY approval, but officials say ownership would stabilize key culinary programs, support local workforce training, and slightly shift how the property is taxed.
