Woman Dies In Crash Saturday Night On Wading River Manor Road: PD (patch.com) — Riverhead police are investigating a deadly Saturday night crash on Wading River Manor Road in Calverton that left a woman dead at the scene and a man seriously injured. Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps brought the man to Peconic Bay Medical Center, and town detectives, assisted by New York State Police accident reconstruction experts, are asking anyone with information to contact the Riverhead Police Department.

Barn Fire Breaks Out In Riverhead: Officials (patch.com) — Firefighters in Riverhead quickly brought a barn fire under control Friday morning on Sound Avenue after deploying nearly 1,000 feet of hose to secure a steady water supply. Multiple neighboring departments, including Jamesport, Wading River, Mattituck, Flanders and Hampton Bays, assisted or provided coverage as the scene was later turned over to the Riverhead Town fire marshal.

Blotter: Riverhead police made 19 arrests last week (timesreview.com) — Riverhead Town police reported 19 arrests between Sept. 20 and 26, including several local residents charged with DWI, harassment, petit larceny, and warrant-related offenses. Those named, from Riverhead and nearby communities, have only been charged, and the allegations may later be reduced, withdrawn, or dismissed in court.

Navy launches interim PFAS treatment system for Calverton groundwater plume in Riverhead (news12.com) — Riverhead residents are reacting to the Navy's new interim system that is now filtering PFAS chemicals from the Calverton groundwater plume threatening local drinking water. Two extraction wells are operating, and local officials and advocates welcome the step while stressing that a permanent, more extensive cleanup is still urgently needed.
