Police: Riverhead Woman Drove Drunk With 3 Children in Car

Woman faces felony DWI charge following arrest Monday.

A Riverhead woman was arrested for violating Leandra’s Law after she drove drunk with three children in her car on Monday, according to State Police.

Troopers had stopped 36-year-old Serina V. Jackson for a vehicle and traffic law violation on East Main Street in Riverhead, police said.

Further investigation determined that she had been drinking, police said. The three children in the car ranged in age from 10 to 14 years old, police said.

Jackson failed sobriety tests at the scene, police said.

She was transported to the State Police Riverside Barracks where she submitted to a chemical test and she was charged with aggravated DWI–a felony under Leandra‘s Law–second degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and a vehicle and traffic law violation, police said.

Jackson was held for morning arraignment in the Town of Riverhead Court and the children were turned over to their grandmother, police said.
