Police: Two Arrested For Making Fraudulent Returns to Lowe's Stores

Arrests made on Friday.

An Amityville woman and her nephew were arrested on Friday for making several fraudulent returns at Lowe’s stores across Long Island since January, according to Riverhead Town Police.

On Feb. 23, the Riverhead Police Department received a call from the Lowe’s Loss Prevention Manager, reporting that a man and woman fraudulently made merchandise returns on Jan. 25, police said.

After an investigation by the Riverhead Detective Division, the two people were identified as William Brennan, 37, of Bay Shore, and Barbara Brennan, 55, of Amityville, according to police.

Both were identified as making separate fraudulent returns on Jan. 25 at the Riverhead store, police said.

On Friday, the Brennans surrendered and were placed under arrest for petty larceny, according to police.

They were processed and released on separate court appearance tickets for the Riverhead Justice Court.

Suffolk and Nassau County Police are investigating the additional fraudulent returns.
