RIVERHEAD, NY — Mother Nature dealt a blow to Riverhead Friday, with flooding and power outages a result of heavy winds, rain and tidal surges.

According to Riverhead Town Supervisor Laura Jens-Smith, the town saw flooding in the downtown parking lot along Peconic Bay Boulevard at high tide around noon.

But, by around 4:30, floodwaters were receding, she said, and winds were not as severe.
