Riverhead High School Hosts Class Competition

The competition took place earlier this month.

Riverhead High School Student Government and class officers hosted a Class Competition earlier this month organized by Student Body Presidnt Katie McKillop and Senior Class President Mieko Vail.

The events in the Competition were very similar to Crazy Sports Night for teachers, but it was a competition between the classes.

All four grades (seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshman) compete in various events including tug of war, three-legged race, water balloon toss, obstacle course, scooter races, hula hoop chain, three point shot, and a whipped cream pie eating contest.

According to Senior and Student Government President Kate McKillop, before the Class Competition, the student government organized a fundraiser called the “Wall of Hope” for Tristin Krueger.

Tristin is a senior battling Leukemia whose house recently had major fire damage.

The students sold ‘Waves’, which were stickers, for $2, $10, $20 and posted them on a wall near the auditorium.“

According to Student Government advisor, Debra Nigrel, the “Wall of Hope” fundraiser raised over $1,500 (minus expenses) for the Krueger family.
