'Safe And Sound': Missing Cat, Max, Finds Way Back Home In Shoreham
After 5 days missing, Max was sitting on the walkway Wednesday morning, patiently waiting to be let back in, his thankful owner says.

SHOREHAM, NY — A missing cat from Shoreham, Max, has found his way back home.
Max's grateful owner Laura Bohn was thrilled Wednesday morning: Max was missing for five long days and during that time, Bohn combed the neighborhood, passed out Max's photo and talked to as many people as she could. Bohn said the plan for Wednesday had been to set up a trap and hang posters.
"I was determined to knock on more doors and see if I could put the trap on various properties in the area I thought he was in," she said.

But at 4:30 a.m., just as her husband John was getting ready to leave for work, "he saw Max sitting on the walkway to the front door," she said. "He scooped him up, and woke me up to tell me. To say I'm happy and relieved is an understatement. I fed Max twice and now here he is after a good brushing— safe and sound," she said.
Max, she said, was cozy on his favorite blanket "making biscuits," a term that means kneading the blanket with his paws.

The sight is one that Bohn said fills her with immense joy.
"I did a lot of praying, and believe or not, I prayed to St. Anthony, for exactly the same scenario for his return as what happened this morning. He is uninjured — but a bit tired," she said.

On Facebook, Bohn wrote: "Look who's here! I want to thank everyone for their kind words, suggestions and prayers."

Max, a black-and-white kitty, had been missing since Friday. Bohn loves to take both her cats out in their zippered strollers and was bereft. "He escaped his stroller and fought me when I tried to get him," she said.
It's not the first time Max has gone on an adventure: "In 2021 Max got caught in a tree and managed to climb higher every time he was approached," she said.
At that time, Bohn paid Hugo Palencia of Palencia Landscaping and Tree Service to get him down safely.
Bohn said she always felt very strongly that Max was in the area this week.
She added: "He is hungry but otherwise, looks pretty good. Finally, a win."
