Suffolk SPCA Hosts Free Pet Food Giveaway Thursday
One free bag of pet food will be given to each family; here's how to get yours.

RIVERHEAD, NY — For the many struggling due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Suffolk County SPCA will host a free cat and dog food distribution at Stotzky Park Thursday.
Stotzky Park is located at Columbus Avenue and Pulaski Street in Riverhead, and the distribution will take place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. — or until the supply runs out.
Roy Gross, chief of the Suffolk SPCA said the agency hopes to help those who may have suffered financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “We’re trying to help out the people who have been financially impacted because of job loss,” Gross said.

Suffolk SPCA has purchased the pet food to distribute; the supply is limited so one bag of pet food will be distributed per family.
Some pet food was also donated by Long Island Cares and by Health Extension, a holistic pet food company, Gross said.

“We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Health Extension and Long Island Cares for their generosity,” Gross said.
Suffolk County Sheriff Errol Toulon will be attending with his staff members, his K-9 units, and McGruff, the crime dog — and Gross said "Godzilla," a two-foot alligator turned in to the SPCA this week, will also be onhand to view.
