Suicidal Man Was Armed With Shotgun Near Homes
The man was found with the shotgun Wednesday night in Riverhead, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — A suicidal man had a shotgun near a residential area in Riverhead Wednesday night, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, the incident took place at 6:20 p.m. at Sunken Pond Estates, when officers responded to a 911 call reporting the man. Officers were able to disarm the man and safely detain him; he was transported to Stony Brook Medical Center for a psychiatric evaluation, police said.
