The Armour-Stiner Octagon House

This year, the Armour-Stiner Octagon House in Irvington, New York will commemorate the 250th Anniversary of The United States with a special guided tour: The Octagon House: 1876 Centennial Tour.
Tours cost $34 and run at 11:30, 1:00, 2:30 PM and 4:00 PM.
100 years before it became a wealthy New York City suburb, Westchester County was once a lawless “neutral ground” during the height of the American Revolution. In this one-hour guided tour, visitors will hear a brief history of the 18th Century Odell Farm where The Octagon House now stands.
As we enter the Octagon House, guests experience how New Yorkers of The Gilded Age once celebrated the Nation’s Centennial of 1876. On display throughout the house will be a delightful collection of antique Centennial souvenirs &amp; ephemera. This was a time of great entrepreneurial innovation, design and manufacturing. The Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia was a magnificent display or wares by the finest manufacturers of the era.
Visitors will enjoy the ornate interior of The Octagon House, which is decorated with antique lighting, furniture, &amp; objects – many of which appeared at the 1876 Centennial Exhibition.
PLEASE NOTE
The Octagon House is a privately owned home and active residence. All visitors to the property must purchase tickets and tour with a guide. Tours are recommended for ages 7+ and include three flights of stairs, and are therefore not suitable for wheelchair users, those with limited mobility, or those who struggle to stand for extended periods of time.”

The Yonkers Downtown/Waterfront BID and the City of Yonkers, Mayor Mike Spano, will host the annual Yonkers Riverfest on Saturday, September 19, from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A longtime community tradition, Riverfest brings residents and visitors together each year to celebrate music, culture, and community along the Hudson River waterfront. Thousands of attendees are expected to enjoy a day of live music, delicious food, local vendors, arts and crafts, family-friendly activities, and more. Lisa Lisa headlines this year’s festival, with DJ Frankie Cutlass, The Lady Gaga Experience featuring Haus Of Monsters, and a diverse lineup of performers taking the stage throughout the day. The festival is free and open to all ages.

Jay Heritage Center

The Jay Heritage Center (JHC) is proud to welcome educators and the general public to our site during September 2026, Constitution Month, to commemorate our nation’s journey towards independence and democracy. The free program is co-sponsored by the Mid-Hudson Social Studies Council. The event will be the first of many lively conversation about America at 250 with some of our country’s leading history scholars. It is open to teachers throughout the Mid Hudson and Sound Shore communities as well as Fairfield County.
Professors David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman and Beverly Gage will take the stage at the new Wachenheim Center to examine the history of the nation-state and the contested nature of American national identity. The panel will discuss what the United States and the Constitution have meant to citizens over time and how that vision has changed or stayed constant. &nbsp;The event is FREE but registration is required. Pianist Wu Han, violinist Philip Setzer, and cellist David Finckel opened our 71st season and they are back, renowned for their exceptional chamber music performances. Audiences will recall Finckel and Setzer's long tenure with the legendary Emerson Quartet. Han and Finckel lead the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and the Music@Menlo chamber music festival in the San Francisco Bay area. Their all-Schubert program includes the Piano Trio No.1 in Bb Major, Op.99 and the Piano Trio No. 2 in Eb Major, Op.100. Socialize and meet the artists at our post-concert reception.
