Dobbs Ferry Fire Department Receives Homeland Security Grant

The funds will be used to buy new air packs.

DOBBS FERRY, NY — The Dobbs Ferry Fire Department has received a Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant in the amount of $235,734.

Rep. Nita Lowey, D-Harrison, the ranking member on the House Appropriations Committee, made the announcement Friday, adding that it is vital for first responders have the equipment they need to respond to emergencies.

“This grant will provide critical resources to the Dobbs Ferry Fire Department so they can continue to keep our communities, neighborhoods and families safe,” she said.

“I am pleased that the Department of Homeland Security is addressing this need in Westchester, and I will continue fighting to ensure that federal resources are invested in the Lower Hudson Valley,” Lowey said.

Dobb Ferry Fire Chief Gerard McIlvain said the federal money will be used to buy 30 new air packs for the firefighters to replace the old packs that have become outdated.
