Boys Playoff Hoops

No. 1 took care of business in its Section 1 Class B semifinal contest against No. 5 Blind Brook at the Westchester County Center in White Plains Feb. 29, winning 68-34.

Dobbs Ferry senior guard Eddie Ritch scored a team-high 15 points in addition to recording three rebounds and three assists.

The Eagles will now play No. 2 Albertus Magnus at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 3 at the county center in the sectional title game.

Nedwick Shines

We thank the Irvington boys basketball supporter for the below submission:

Nick Nedwick (Irvington ’08) broke his school's 72-year all-time scoring record. He was named first team All-Conference and first team All-Defense. He also led Eastern Connecticut State University to the league championship and a berth into the Division III NCAA Tournament.

Swimming:

Addendum: In addition to finishing 2nd in the 200 Butterfly at the NESCAC Championship at Wesleyan, on Feb. 17th, Kathryn Ha (D.F-Hackley '09) was also 2nd in the 50 and 100 Butterfly races in the meet. Her time in the 50 was 25.47, while in the 100, it was 55.54. The team's record for the season was 8-0.

Tennis:

The Hartford men's tennis team lost to guests Fordham on the 25th, as Mike Kennelly (Irv.'10) lost a hard fought singles game to a Ram, 6-3-4-6 10-8, while he and Alex Holdstein (H '10) both lost their doubles matches by the score of 8-1. The record thus far is 2-4.

Andy Catania (DF '09) of the St. Olaf men's tennis team, who had been ill all week, nevertheless stepped, up as he and his doubles partner topped their opponents of McCallister, 8-0, for their third straight win on Feb. 24th.
