Take Me On My Ancestor’s Journey!

Take Me On My Ancestor’s Journey!

The Westchester County Genealogical Society welcomes Leslie Albrecht Huber with a talk about her book The Journey Takers on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 10am. The meeting will take place at the Aldersgate Methodist Church, 600 Broadway in Dobbs Ferry which is across from Mercy College on route 9.

Freelance writer and genealogist, Leslie Albrecht Huber, delves into the past to recreate the immigration story in her new book, The Journey Takers. Huber’s ancestors left Germany, Sweden, and England behind to sail to the US and start new lives here.  Huber fit her ancestors into their social history context, making it a story that will help anyone with Western European immigrant ancestors learn more about their own families – what their lives were like as peasants in Western Europe and what the journey to America was like. Enjoy some stories that will remind us why we find genealogy research so fun – and so meaningful.

WCGS regularly presents speakers on genealogical topics at its monthly meeting on the 2nd Saturday each month. WCGS welcomes all interested in searching their family roots. Guests are warmly welcome. There will be refreshments & genealogical networking starting at 9:30am.
