Who will you find in the 1940 Census?

The Westchester County Genealogical Society welcomes Christopher Zarr with a talk on Exploring the 1940 Census on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 10am. The meeting will take place at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 600 Broadway in Dobbs Ferry which is across from Mercy College on route 9.

The 1940 Census will be made publicly available on April 2nd of 2012. Taken during the Great Depression and the New Deal and on the brink of US involvement in WWII, the 1940 Census documents Americans during a time of national struggle. This workshop will describe the genealogical information that can be uncovered in this document.

Christopher Zarr serves as the Education Specialist for the National Archives at NYC.  Prior to joining NARA, he was a high school history teacher in East Hanover, NJ.  He graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in History and Political Science and a M.Ed in Social Studies Education.
