Newest Dobbs Ferry Police Officer Sworn In

Michael F. Digilio was appointed to Dobbs Ferry Police Department.

Michael Digilio, 24, was appointed to the Dobbs Ferry Police Department on Tuesday. A Cortlandt Manor resident, Digilio has been a member of the Mount Vernon police force since 2009.

Digilio graduated from Pace University with a degree in criminal justice and sociology.

"I look forward to serving Dobbs Ferry to the best of my ability," he said on Tuesday, after he was sworn in by Mayor Hartley Connett. Digilio was accompanied to the board of trustees meeting by his younger sister and father, a retired New York City detective.

Police Chief Betsy Gelardi thanked the village for allowing her to hire another officer after the department was left short-staffed due to retirements.

"We are excited about this addition," Connett said. "It is hard to find good, quality candidates."
