Revised Stop & Shop Plan Gets All Dobbs Ferry Boards' Approvals

Village Administrator Marcus Serrano thinks this time it will actually happen.

The Dobbs Ferry Architectural and Historic Review Board was the final gatekeeper last month for for its scaled-down refurbishment.

In May, 2010, The Board of Trustees finally approved a plan for the village's central supermarket's expansion; but for more than a year, no changes were made.

In August, representatives from the company presented a new scaled-back plan, which has now been reviewed and approved by the village's planning board, board of trustees and architectural historical review board.

On Dec. 20, the AHRB approved a plan that, according to Dobbs Ferry's Village Administrator Marcus Serrano and Building Inspector Brian Cook, includes:

  • Rehabilitated interior with a new paint job.
  • New floors.
  • Landscaping on the outside.
  • Repaved lot.
  • 38 new spaces in the old Scott Chevrolet lot across the street.
  • LED lights inside.
  • New signage.

"There will also be about 1,000 more square feet of floor space and new electric refrigeration," Serrano said. "We're also told that there will be new merchandise, but they have not indicated what that is."

Though has balked in the past, Serrano is somewhat confident this upgrade will actually happen. "There's never a guarantee—but I think this one's going forward," he said.
