Baseball

On the 23rd, in a 7-5 loss at Brockport, Andrew Pezzuto (Hastings '07) batted 2-3, including a double, had 1 r.b.i. and was hit by a pitch, while in a double header there on the 24th, he went hitless and walked once in the opening 10-0 win. The record stands at 13-5.

Mike Swerdloff (Ardsley '09) started the first of two games with Farmington State and suffered his 2nd loss of the season, 9-7, as her gave up all 9 runs on 15 hits, walked 2 batters and fanned 3, in his 7.0 innings on the mound . He also appeared briefly (not on the mound) in the 2nd game, with the Brandeis Judges losing this one in 10 innings, 5-3, and with the record thus far 5-14.

Splitting a double header on the 24th at home with Stonehill, Pace won the opener, 10-2, and dropped the nightcap, 9-7. Center Fielder Chris Roemer (Ardsley '07) went 1-3 at the bat, and the closer, had 1 hit, scored a run and batted in another.

On the 22nd, in a win over Nyack, 7-4, he had 1 hit, scored 2 runs, walked once, and had 2 steals plus being caught stealing in the win. With Bentley on the 25th, in a double loss, Roemer went 0-4 in the 3-2 opener, and had a single and r.b.i. in the 6-3 night cap, with the Setters' record now 9-10 on the season.

At St. Joseph's of Long Island, Gary Riefenhauser (Dobbs Ferry '09) pitched 1 inning in the 5-1 loss, giving up 1 hit and walking 1, in the Purchase Panther's double loss, after the hosts took the opener, 4-3. The record is now 10-12.

Baseball Award Winners

Two Mercy College baseball players picked up East Coast Conference Weekly honors - senior Tyler Savin was named Co-Pitcher of the Week and freshman Bryan Greig was named Rookie of the Week for the second time this year.
