Saw Mill River Parkway Closures Scheduled

Work on the county's Ashford Avenue project will necessitate the detours and stoppages.

Continuing construction activities surrounding Westchester County's Ashford Avenue project next week will mean that motorist could find themselves having to make detour or stop. Closures are expected on the Saw Mill River Parkway between Exit 16 (Lawrence Street) and Exit 21 (NY Route 119) beginning the evening of Wednesday, May 31, and into the morning of Thursday, June 1, while crews perform construction activities, weather permitting. The state Department of Transportation said the closures will be in the villages of Dobbs Ferry and Ardsley.

The northbound Saw Mill Parkway is expected to undergo a full closure between Exit 16 (Lawrence Street) and Exit 21 (NY Route 119), beginning at 10 p.m. and ending at 6 a.m.

The left lane is expected to be closed on the southbound Saw Mill River Parkway between Exit 17 (Ashford Avenue) and Exit 16 (Lawrence Street), from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Additionally, five 15- to 20-minute stoppages are expected in this southbound location between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Northbound motorists should follow the posted detour, and all motorists should anticipate delays.

Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone area and pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.

Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
