In a twin bill at Clermont, Fl. with St. Catherine (MN) on the 19th, Mira Lieman-Sifry (Hastings '08) of Tufts, in the opener, walked once and had an assist in the Jumbos' 7-2 win over the Wildcats, while in game two, and with her nine behind in the 3rd frame, 1-0, she launched her team's 6-4 win, by singling and later scoring in the 3 run rally.
On the 20th, in a morning game with Frostburg, a 7-5 win, she scored 1 run and had 2 putouts and 1 assist, while later with Elmhurst, in a 4-1 win, she had 1 hit, fanned once, and had 1 put out, 1 assist, and 1 error in this one.

Crew
The Duke women's rowing team, including Victoria Tsamis (Dobbs Ferry '09) in a regatta at Oak Ridge, TN on the 17th, finished third in her race as Virginia copped all races that day.
Baseball
On the 20th, at home with WPI, Alex Pezzuto (Hastings '10) had one his most productive games for Johnson and Wales, as he singled in the first frame, stole second, and later scored, while in the 7th, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he tripled down the right field line, scoring both, in the 12-4 game. At second base, he had 2 putouts and 1 assist in the win.
With Mass.-Boston on the 21st, in the 8-6 loss, he went 1-4 , had 1 r.b.i. , 1 sacrifice bunt, plus 2 putouts and 4 assists in the game. With Framingham State on the 22nd, Pezzuto batted 3-4, including a double, scored 1 run, stole a base, was caught on another stealing attempt, made 2 put outs, and had 4 assists in the 5-3 win. The 7-7 team thus concluded their Southern series, with the shortstop having a batting average of .288 thus far.
In a game at Bridgeport, Pace, after leading 7-2 going into the last of the 9th innings, gave up 6 runs to lose, 8-7. Lead off batter Chris Roemer (Ardsley '08) of the visitors batted 1-4 and fanned once in the game.
With Wentworth on the 21st, in an 11-9 loss in 10 innings, Mike Swerdloff (Ardsley '09) of Brandeis scored 1 run in the game. At Salve Regina on the 22nd, he pitched 7.0 innings against the Sea Birds, giving up 9 runs on 15 hits, walked 2 and fanned 3 batters in the 9-7 loss.
A Tucson , with Luther on the 17th, the Carleton Knights lost, 4-3, with Kyota Gomi (Ardsley '08) starting at first base, during which stretch he had no hits, scored a run, fanned once, and registered 11 put outs, after which time he pitched the final 1.1 innings no runs, 2 hits, and walked 2 batters during his time on the mound.
Facing the same nine on the morning of the 19th, in a 13-7 win, Gomi had 2 hits, 1 r.b.i. , plus 10 putouts at first, and 1 assist. In the afternoon contest with Carthage, his single in the 8th inning, tied the teams at 4 all , but in the bottom half, the opposition scored 5 runs, to win, 9-4. He had 6 putouts, 3 assists, and committed 1 error at first base.
On the 21st, in the first game against Eastern Ct, a 7-1 loss, Gomi started on the mound, pitched 5.0 innings, during which time he surrendered 5 runs on 7 hits, and was the losing pitcher.
At first base in the 2nd game with Nebraska Wesleyan, he scored 1 run, after gaining first base when hit by the opposing hurler, and made 12 putouts at first base. On the 22nd with Carthage, in the Florida getaway contest, they won, 8-6, with Gomi 0-2, gained first when hit by a pitch and later scored. At first base , he had 8 put outs, and 1 assist.
Mercy Sweeps

The Mercy College baseball team swept ECC rival Molloy in a doubleheader yesterday (March 24) by scores of 1-0 and 2-0. The first game was in extra inning walkoff fashion and the second in a one-hitter. A trio of Mercy pitchers combined to post the 17 scoreless frames.
