Westchester Man Pleads Guilty in Stabbing of Ex-Girlfriend
The attempted murder occurred in April at the Irvington train station and was broken up by Fire Chief Chris DePaoli.

Mount Vernon resident Sidney Brown, 52, this week pleaded guilty to attempted murder charges in connection with the April stabbing of his ex-girlfriend at the Irvington train station, Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced.
The brutal attack on Deborah Henry, who is also the mother of Brown’s children, was thwarted by Irvington Fire Chief Chris DePaoli, who was driving by with his daughters at the time. DePaoli jumped out of his truck, grabbed a baseball bat from the back and broke up the assault. Brown was arrested by police moments later.

- one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a class “B” Felony,
- one count of Strangulation in the Second Degree, a class “D” Felony,
According to DiFiore, on April 8, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Brown accosted Henry in the parking lot of the train station, stabbing her repeatedly in the neck, torso, back, and thigh before he was captured.
The attack was witnessed by numerous bystanders before DePaoli intervened.

Brown also had a number of open arrest and bench warrants in Mount Vernon and Yonkers for domestic violence incidents involving both his current wife and Henry.
He has been remanded to Westchester County Jail and is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 7, 2016. Brown faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in state prison.
DePaoli was honored at the state capitol for his heroism by Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins.
Assistant District Attorney Wendy Parra, Chief of the Domestic Violence Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Karen Herbert of the Domestic Violence Bureau are prosecuting the case.
