City Looks to Partner with Rochester Youth Leaders in Climate Action Fund Efforts (minorityreporter.net) — Rochester teens and young adults can now apply for grants up to $5,000 to launch local climate projects that will help shape the city's updated Climate Action Plan. If you're 15 to 24 and have ideas around safer neighborhoods, cleaner air, better transportation, or green jobs, you can submit proposals through September 25.
   

2. Foreclosure lawsuit filed against shuttered Wyndham Rochester Downtown hotel (13wham.com) — Rochester officials have already shut down the Wyndham Rochester Downtown on State Street over serious fire and building code violations, and now its owner faces a foreclosure lawsuit claiming more than $6.3 million is owed. Cogent Bank is asking a Monroe County judge to let it foreclose, sell the property, and appoint a receiver to safeguard the shuttered hotel while the case moves forward.
   

3. Rochester's Bhutanese Community raises funds for Nepal flood victims as death toll surpasses 1,000 (whec.com) — Rochester's Bhutanese Community of Greater Rochester is mobilizing local Nepali families and neighbors to raise $30,000 for relatives and other survivors of the deadly floods in Nepal. With members in Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse, they're collecting donations online and at several area markets to fund food, clothing, and medical aid for hardest-hit families.
   

4. Memorial Art Gallery to present major exhibition of works by contemporary artist Hugo McCloud (iloveny.com) — Rochester art lovers will soon be able to see the largest museum solo exhibition of contemporary artist Hugo McCloud at the Memorial Art Gallery from September 26, 2026, through January 3, 2027. Featuring more than twenty-five inventive works using materials like plastic bags and tar paper, the show invites local visitors to explore powerful scenes of labor and daily life from around the world.
   

5. L3Harris' Rochester team helps give NASA's Roman telescope its view of the universe (rbj.net) — Rochester-based L3Harris engineers built the optical "eye" and primary mirror for NASA's new Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, now on a million-mile journey to study dark energy, galaxies, and exoplanets. Nearly 1,400 local employees and several area suppliers contributed over a decade, and the company says this work is driving continued high-tech hiring in the Rochester region.
