1. Buckingham, Child Care Council make joint $8M property purchase (rbj.net) — A major North Winton Village property on Blossom Road in Rochester has been sold for $8 million to a partnership between Buckingham Properties and Child Care Council. Existing tenants, including ARTISANworks, will remain, while the new owners pledge long-term investment in the campus and continued support for local businesses and child care services.
   

2. Rochester shooting numbers drop to lowest levels in years as city leaders say more work is needed (whec.com) — Rochester officials and advocates say shootings are at their lowest levels in years, but they're pushing a new community-driven data hub to better understand and prevent gun violence. At a City Council session at Arnett Branch Library, residents were invited to weigh in on what information the ROC Against Gun Violence Coalition should track, and an online survey is open for more feedback.
   

3. Volleyball Drops Two Matches to Ranked Teams at UAA RR 1 (case.edu) — University of Rochester is hosting the first UAA volleyball round robin this weekend, where Case Western Reserve dropped two straight-set matches to nationally ranked Carnegie Mellon and Chicago. Play continues Sunday morning in Rochester, with the Yellowjackets facing CWRU to close out the event.
   

4. A look at Blessed Fulton Sheen's relics (ewtnnews.com) — Rochester's Catholic community is about to receive a major first-class relic of Blessed Fulton Sheen, taken from the bones of his hand and presented personally by Bishop Louis Tylka next Tuesday. The Diocese of Rochester plans a celebration when the relic arrives, and local faithful will eventually be able to venerate it publicly alongside other Sheen relics distributed worldwide.
   

5. What was life like in Rochester in the 1990s? See these rare photos (ithacajournal.com) — Rochester residents can browse a large gallery of nearly 180 rare photos capturing everyday life, culture, and familiar landmarks around the city in the 1990s. The collection offers a nostalgic look at how neighborhoods, streets, and community moments once looked, with links to additional historic Rochester photo sets from earlier decades.
