RBTL Improves Accessibility in Auditorium Theatre Balcony (minorityreporter.net) — If you visit the West Herr Auditorium Theatre in Rochester, you'll now find new custom handrails throughout the balcony to make those steep steps safer and easier to navigate. RBTL's ongoing PROJECT RESTOURATION has already upgraded elevators, entrances, restrooms, and sidewalks, with more improvements planned as fundraising continues toward a full $65 million transformation.
   

2. Rochester's JustCause celebrates 45 years of pro bono legal services (nydailyrecord.com) — Rochester's legal community just marked 45 years of JustCause, the nonprofit that coordinates millions of dollars in free civil legal help for low-income residents each year. At a Hall of Justice celebration, top judges and local attorneys highlighted how volunteer lawyers are protecting housing, family stability, and benefits for thousands of Monroe County neighbors who can't afford counsel.
   

3. ACTIONS SPEAK LOUD: The Breast Cancer Coalition's ACTober event is a time to take action and support thebreast and gynecologic cancer community (greaterrochesterchamber.com) — Rochester residents are invited to support local breast and gynecologic cancer survivors at ACTober, a cocktail fundraiser on Thursday, October 1 at ARTISANworks. Hosted by the Breast Cancer Coalition, the evening features auctions, awards for local advocates, and stories from survivors, with all proceeds funding free support and education services for people facing cancer in our community.
   

4. $4.2M aims to put more Finger Lakes teens to work, curb violence (rochesterfirst.com) — RochesterWorks is getting a share of $4.2 million in new state funding to expand year-round youth employment across Monroe County, including Rochester teens. The Roc Your Job program has already grown rapidly, and leaders say these paid opportunities help young people build confidence, connect with mentors, and may even reduce their risk of being affected by gun violence.
   

5. Over-60 soccer players reunite for Rochester tournament (rochesterfirst.com) — Rochester will host the Forever Sporting Over 60 Northeast Invitational this weekend, bringing veteran soccer players together for competitive matches and a Saturday evening social. Local fans can watch longtime regional standouts and even three Rochester Lancers legends take the field, as the tournament focuses on both spirited play and the friendships built over decades in the game.
