The city will showcase completed projects like Austin Steward Plaza and Sister Cities Bridge upgrades, while previewing work on Genesee Crossroads Park, High Falls State Park, and expanded riverfront trails.

Rochester's growing Asian American community hosts third Harvest Moon Festival this weekend (roccitymag.com) — Rochester-area residents can celebrate the Harvest Moon Festival this Saturday, Sept. 26, from noon to 6 p.m. at Meridian Centre Park in Brighton, with free tickets available online. Organized by APAPA's Rochester chapter, the event features AAPI cultural performances, family activities, and more than a dozen food vendors, reflecting the region's growing Asian American community and its expanding local businesses.
   

3. The Last Page: 25 years later, 'Rainbow Boys' author reflects on progress, challenges (rochesterfirst.com) — Rochester readers will have a chance to meet "Rainbow Boys" author Alex Sanchez when he celebrates the novel's 25th-anniversary relaunch with Writers & Books on Sept. 30. In a recent interview, Sanchez reflected on how the groundbreaking LGBTQ+ young adult novel broadened representation, the challenges it has faced, and why its emotional themes still resonate with a wide audience today.
   

4. Lollypop Farm takes in 55 cats after caretaker asks for help (13wham.com) — Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, has taken in 55 cats after a local caretaker facing housing insecurity asked for help before conditions became unsafe. Staff from across the Perinton shelter are now caring for the animals and seeking donations and foster homes, giving Rochester-area residents several ways to support both the cats and struggling pet owners.
   

5. Rochester's Fringe Festival is good for more than just the shows — local businesses are feeling the boost too (whec.com) — Rochester's Fringe Festival is drawing big crowds that are boosting local spots like The Little Theatre and the Inn on Broadway, especially on typically slow Thursday nights. With free RIT film screenings, comedy and trivia shows, and a Pete Davidson performance Friday at Eastman Theatre, downtown venues are seeing stronger concession, dining, and hotel business as the festival wraps up Saturday.
