Body Found in Water of Wantagh Park

The Nassau County Police Department is working to identify a body that was found in the water at Wantagh Park on Thursday.

According to police, they were notified at 12:54 p.m. that a body was found at Wantagh Park, although they weren't sure which body of water at the park it was found in. An unoccupied boat was found near the body.

Police officials said the boat ramp was closed during the investigation. And while people were allowed to enter the park, they were not permitted to leave while the investigation was ongoing. That ban has been lifted.

At this time, police are unable to identify the body or say whether the person was male or female.
