Nassau Teen Seriously Injured In Hit-And-Run

Police said the driver hit the teen, got out to look at him, then drove off.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — Nassau County police said they are searching for a driver who severely injured a teenager in a hit-and-run in Rockville Centre.

According to police, a 14-year-old boy was walking south on the shoulder of North Village Avenue at 11:13 p.m. Sunday when he was hit by a white Dodge Durango heading north.

Police said the driver got out of the car, looked at the teen, then drove off. The driver was described as a stocky black man about 6 feet tall.

The teen was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was in serious but stable condition.

Police asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or First Squad at 516-573-6153. All callers will remain anonymous.
