South Side High School Makes List of Top 100 High Schools in New York
Niche.com ranked the best public high schools in New York.

In a recently released report, Niche.com named South Side High School in Rockville Centre as the 83rd best public high school in New York.
The website evaluated schools based on key statistics, as well as parent and student reviews. South Side High School received an overall grade of an “A” from Niche.
According to the report, the school received an “A+” for teachers, an “A” for academics, administration & policies, educational outcomes, and extracurriculars, an “A-” for health & safety, a “B+” for resources & facilities, and a “B” for sports & fitness.

The school’s lowest grade – a “B-” rating – came in food and student culture & diversity.
“Throughout my junior and senior year of high school, many teachers would constantly tell students that college is not easy so enjoy high school while you still can,” one student commented. “College will cause you to make some of the most important decisions and life but will also continue to prepare you for the real world. Doing your home work and getting good grades is very important to value in high school because in college its a must. The guidance counselors were very helpful in guiding many students in the right direction and helping to apply for scholarships, especially for students that needed the extra money to pay for their tuition and books.”

The website used a detailed set of methods to rank 14,431 public high schools across the country and collected 4.6 million opinions from 280,000 students and parents.
According to Niche.com, a high overall ranking includes the following criteria:
- Students are very happy with their experience in all aspects including academics, teachers, health, safety, resources, facilities, extracurriculars, sports, and fitness;
- District schools are exceptional academic institutions in terms of teachers, students, resources for learning, and student outcomes;
- District schools are made up of a diverse population and fosters an accepting, positive school culture;
- Students are actively involved in a variety of extracurriculars and sports the district offers.
