At Wine & Design, Musicology Long Island Turned a Paint & Sip Into a Prince Room

Brushes, Beats, and Purple Vibes: Musicology Long Island Hosts a Prince-Inspired Paint Experience in Rockville Centre.

Rockville Centre shimmered in shades of purple as local fans of the legendary Prince gathered for an unforgettable afternoon that blended art, music, and community. Hosted by the vibrant Facebook-based collective Musicology Long Island, the “Sip + Paint + Prince” event transformed a typical weekend into a full-sensory tribute to one of music’s most iconic visionaries.

Held at Wine & Design Rockville Centre, the space became a creative sanctuary where attendees picked up paintbrushes and tapped into their inner artist under the guidance of a talented instructor. Canvas by canvas, a room full of Prince aficionados brought their own interpretations to life, each stroke echoing the rhythm of the music that filled the air.

And what a soundtrack it was.

Sounds Curated by Prince enthusiast and group co-founder Ren Zelaya , the Apple Music playlist served as the heartbeat of the afternoon, weaving together classics and deep cuts that kept the energy flowing. From the first note to the final brushstroke, the music didn’t just play in the background, it danced through the room, inspiring color choices, bold lines, and a few spontaneous shoulder shimmies.

But this wasn’t just about painting.

Musicology Long Island made sure the spirit of Prince was felt in every corner of the experience. Throughout the event, guests tested their fandom with rounds of Prince trivia, turning the gathering into a playful, competitive celebration of knowledge and nostalgia. Prizes were awarded to the top two trivia champions, while another lucky attendee took home honors for Best Artwork, a nod to the creativity that filled the studio from wall to wall.

The atmosphere? Electric, joyful, and unmistakably communal. Strangers became fast friends over shared lyrics and laughter, proving once again that Prince’s legacy is more than music, it’s connection.

And the purple wave isn’t stopping here.

The Musicology Long Island team hinted at an exciting lineup of summer events designed to keep the community engaged and grooving. Plans include another immersive creative experience, a high-energy skate party, and a grand finale Prince dance party to close out the season in true Paisley Park fashion.
